Ingredients for Healthy Fish Tacos
You will need the following ingredients for this recipe.
For the fish tacos -
- white fish fillets - halibut, tilapia, or cod are my favorites to use.
- olive oil - the oil is used to brush onto the fish before you bake it. The oil helps prevent the fish from sticking and also adds more flavor.
- chili powder - adds a touch of spice to the flavor of the fish.
- cumin - adds a warm earthy slightly nutty flavor.
- garlic powder - enhances the flavor and adds a savory and slightly pungent flavor.
- oregano - adds a bold earthy and slightly peppery flavor.
- smoked paprika - adds a distinctive smoky and slightly sweet flavor.
- small corn tortillas - corn tortillas are the traditional option with fish tacos
- avocado - sliced or cut into pieces. I like adding avocado right into the taco.
- lime - cut into wedges, I squeeze the lime juice all over the healthy fish tacos right before I stuff one in my mouth.
- cherry tomatoes - halved, I add these little tomatoes on top of my tacos, as well, but this is an optional ingredient.
- cilantro - an optional topping to add on to your final product.
For the sauce -
- mayonnaise - helps to create a creamy rich sauce.
- plain Greek yogurt - I use it in place of sour cream to add more protein to the sauce.
- onion powder - gives an added onion flavor with having chunks of onions in your sauce.
- sweet chili sauce - adds a sweet tangy and slightly spicy flavoring. One of my favorite sauces.

White Fish - you can also use red fish if you prefer red over white.
Cherry Tomatoes - tomatoes complement fish tacos well, but you can choose whichever type of tomatoes you prefer. Some options are Roma, San Marzano, or Big Beef.

Tips and FAQ's
Yes! It is important to include white fish in your diet. Fish is high in protein and low in fat, and it provides various health benefits.
Store the cooked fish in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days.
The simplest way is to toss them in the microwave for 30 seconds. You can always heat them in a frying pan, as well. Heat up a dry skillet and place the tortilla in 20-30 seconds on each side. You can also heat them in the oven at 350 degrees and bake for 10-15 minutes wrapped up in tin foil.
